A Rechargeable Lithium Battery Model – Charge and Discharge Behavior

The transient charge and discharge performance of a rechargeable Li battery is strongly dependent on the design and choice of materials.

This model allows you to investigate the behavior of a Li-ion cell based on a number of design parameters. The model simulates cell voltage, capacity, current distribution, and concentration in the electrolyte and electrode particles. Experimental results obtained in a reference paper are well reproduced with the model.

Battery developers can use the model to investigate the influence of various design parameters such as the choice of materials, dimensions, and the particle size distribution of the active materials,

Cell Voltage during a cycle consisting of a discharge stage, followed by a short open circuit stage, a charging stage, and finally an open circuit stage again.
