Structural and Fatigue Analyses of a Shaft with a Fillet

Structural and Fatigue Analyses of a Shaft with a Fillet

This benchmark model shows how to perform a high-cycle fatigue analysis for nonproportional loading using critical planes.

Two time-dependent loads are applied to the small end of a shaft: a transverse force, causing bending, and a twisting moment.

In this model, a shaft with a fillet is exposed to a non-proportional loading history consisting of a transversal force and torque. The two static load cases are used to perform a multiaxial fatigue analysis calculating the utilization factor.

The fatigue analysis is performed using the postprocessing tools available in the Structural Mechanics Module in symbiosis with MATLAB.
