Acoustic-Structural Interaction in a Tuning Fork

This model simulates a tuning fork for tuning musical instruments which, if correctly designed, should sound the note of A, 440 Hz. First an eigenfrequency analysis is performed on this structure to ensure its fundamental frequency is exactly 440 Hz. Then the interaction between the structural vibrations in the tuning fork and the acoustic waves produced in the surrounding air is simulated to calculate the sound pressure level (SPL) of the sound produced as the tuning fork vibrates at frequencies near this fundamental resonance point.

This model is an extension of the existing Tuning Fork model (DB 8499) now including the surrounding air domain.
