Mr. Svante Littmarck and Mr. Farhad Saeidi founded the company in 1986. Svante Littmarck is the CEO of the COMSOL Group and the President and CEO of COMSOL, Inc. Farhad Saeidi is the CEO and President of COMSOL AB.

Our mission is to create easy-to-use modeling software tools for solving complex multiphysics problems. We released our first modeling product, the PDE Toolbox, in 1995. In 1998 we published the first version of our flagship product, FEMLAB®. In the subsequent years, we developed and expanded a suite of discipline-specific add-on modules. With the release of version 3.2 in September 2005, we changed the name to COMSOL Multiphysics™ and introduced our own script language for technical computing, COMSOL Script™.
